Nita’s Silent Hands, Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Gastonia, the United States that is passionate about bridging the gap between the deaf and hearing community. 

​

Nita’s Silent Hands, Inc. seeks to transform our world by mending the gap between the hearing and deaf community and making an IMPACT by generating resources, knowledge, and equality through Agape love one community at a time. 

With our aim of transforming the world, we want the deaf to enjoy relating to people and their surroundings. We plan to organize deaf events focused around creating more inclusive social spaces and business growth in Gaston County, Cleveland County, Mecklenburg County, and Catawba County.

According to research, across all age groups, approximately 600,000 people in the United States (0.22% of the population, or 2.2 per 1,000) are deaf; and more than half are over 65 years of age. It is understood that these categories of people do not have the opportunity to relate to their environment. This made our driving zeal for the deaf community grow the more. 

Nita’s Silent Hands, Inc. wants to create an environment where everyone will communicate with the deaf, express love, and engage them in social and environmental activities. We plan to collaborate with local interpreting agencies to become the liaison of the business and the agencies. We will work with business consulting firms to help a business become deaf-friendly certified. 

  

Our primary goal is to teach people of all ages sign language programs to make them relate easily with the deaf community. We believe this has a great way of improving the process of bridging the gap between the deaf and the hearing community. 

We are proud to sponsor scholarships to students majoring or minoring in ASL, Deaf Studies, Deaf Education, and Interpreter Preparation. Scholarships are offered to students who will begin college in the fall or are currently enrolled.

Nita’s Silent Hands, Inc. services range from creating workforce development, deaf advocacy, establishing market-rate housing, counseling services, financial literacy training, and giving the deaf community a safe place to engage. We will do this by creating a deaf lounge and partnering with local businesses to create the same environment.

We strive to build productive relationships and make a positive impact on all of our pursuits. Our work is guided by the vision of a world free from injustice and wrongful shaming of individuals, where both the deaf and the hearing can grow up happy, productive, and prosperous.

Digital methods as well as conventional strategies will be implemented in reaching our target audience. Social media platforms will be fully utilized; search engine optimization will also be leveraged on.
